Derba MIDROC Cement factory commences production

Derba MIDROC Cement Factory
Derba MIDROC Cement Factory has started production after 38 months of construction.
The factory, which rested on 1.2 million square meters of land in Oromia State, has also a separate factory that produces over 80 million bags a year.

Haile Asegide, MIDROC Major Investment Projects CEO said the factory’s commencement of production is good news for the construction sector both in terms of supply and price.

The factory would produce 25 million quintals of cement a year, he said.

Derba MIDROC Cement Factory, which consumed 600 million USD, including the factory that produces bags and the 1,000 heavy trucks to transport the cement products, would be officially inaugurated on Sunday, February 5, 2012.

The factory would play a key role towards addressing cement shortage in the country, it was noted. (ERTA)
