Ethiopian to purchase five Q400 NextGen aircraft

Ethiopian Airlines has signed a contract with Bombardier for the purchase of five Q400 NextGen aircraft, a press statement issued by the Airline said.

The purchase will raise the number of Q400 NextGen aircrafts operated by the Ethiopian Airlines to 13.
According to the statement, the Q400 aircraft uses up to 40 percent less fuel compared to other aircrafts and thereby reduce its green gas emissions by the same amount.

Ethiopian Airlines, the flag carrier of Ethiopia and one of Africa's leading airlines, serves 64 international destinations.

Based on the list price for the Q400 NextGen airliner, the transaction is valued at approximately $160 million US.
