Bonuses promised to Ethiopian players for 2013 African Cup of Nations

Ethiopia's players have been promised more than $100,000 each if they win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. The Waliya Antelopes won the tournament in 1962 but last qualified in 1982.

Ethiopia Football Federation president Sahilu Gebremariam said the players would get $111,000 (2 million Birr) each to win the Cup and $55,000 (1 million Birr) each to reach the final.

The Walia Antelopes are drawn in Group C along with defending champions Zambia, Nigeria and Burkina Faso.

The tournament starts on January 19. Ethiopia’s opening game is on January 21 against defending champions Zambia in Nelspruit.
