Arsenal handed Gedion Zelalem , a teenager hailed as the 'next Cesc Fabregas' , under-21 debut against Liverpool at Anfield tonight.Arsenal's under-21 side lost 3-2 to their Liverpool compatriots, but the real talking point from a Gunners perspective was the debut of Gedion Zelalem, a German citizen of Ethiopian descent. Gedion Zelalem turned 16 this January.
He moved with his family from Berlin to the United States in 2006. He officially completed his move to the club at the start of the season.
He has trained with the Arsenal first team on several occasions. Zelalem has played on two occasions for Germany's U15 side, and has since made eight appearances for their U16s. He qualifies to play for Ethiopia at international level.
