Ethiopian Football Federation admits using an ineligible player

Ethiopian Football Federation
Sahilu Gebremariam, the president of the Ethiopian Football Federation, has admitted his side used a suspended player in a 2014 World Cup qualifier. He told BBC Sport that Minyahil Teshome Beyene should have missed the match having picked up two yellow cards in previous qualifiers.

Minyahile Teshome Beyene was in the starting lineup against Botswana in Lobatse on June 8, despite receiving yellow cards in two previous qualifiers. He was allegedly yellow carded during Ethiopia’s 1-0 victory against the Botswana in Addis Ababa and the 1 - 1 draw against South Africa in June 2012 in Rustenburg.
